Re: News on "FrameMaker 5.5.6 for Dummies"

Hi all,

As of this morning, it's $19.99 at amazon. It's also available at
borders.com at the same price. I guess those shopping bots got to work.*

Can't find it (yet) at buy.com or fatbrain.com.

Oddly enough, dummies.com doesn't have it either.

Sarah

* Someone told me this week that all the online bookstores have bots that
go around and compare their prices to the competition. For instance, amazon
sends out a bot that checks prices at bn.com. If amazon's price is higher,
they lower it to match. (Not sure what happens if amazon's price is
lower...) But the really interesting part is that there's anti-bot
warefare. All of the merchants try to prevent the competition's bots from
scanning their prices. The easiest way to identify a bot is by its
speed--too fast to be a human typing--so, in turn, the bots get
artificially slowed down so that they look like "people" accessing the web
site.
