Importing Tabels from Word to FrameMaker

Frame Users,

I am very new with FrameMaker and I need some help, please. First, we are
converting all of our current Operating Manuals from both Corel Ventura 4.0
and 7.0. You can imagine the nightmare!!! :(

However, this particular document is currently in Microsoft Word, and we
want to include the table portion in the manual. Well, I am trying to
import a huge table that continues (wraps) for several pages (approx.
15-20 pages long) from Word into the FrameMaker document. I am having
MAJOR difficulty doing so.

After "Select Table" from the Table pull down menu in Word, I cut (or copy)
the table and then go into FrameMaker and paste. Well, only the first page
of the table pastes in the Frame document. I've also tried copy, paste
special (Embedded Microsoft Word Document Object), but a similar situation
occurs. The command only pastes the first page and puts it into an anchored
frame. Also, some of the text at the bottom of the table is left off. The
L O N G and wrong way around this is to go back in Word and copy the remainder
of the table that cut off, then back to Frame and paste. Then, go back to
Word, copy the second page of the table, paste, etc. There has got to be a
better way, and I'm sure there is but I can't figure it out.

Another route I've taken is trying to convert the entire Word file (which
contains the tables) in FrameMaker, but a note reads "The filter encountered
an error and could not complete the translation."

I'm at my wits end, not to mention a deadline and if anyone could please
offer a suggestion to help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Please
remember, I am new with FrameMaker. Thanks.
