Oops, the "opaque" versus "transparent" setting for the preview
was for Illustrator. Sorry.

For the other settings, I personally recommend "binary" since
it is much more efficient in many cases.

You obviously want a preview.

You obviously want to embed fonts.

Transparency settings are only relevant if you have live
transparency in the PDF file, i.e., a PDF 1.4 file created
by Illustrator 9 (or later) or InDesign 2 (or later) that
explicitly uses transparent objects or features such as
drop shadows and/or feathering. In that case, you normally
would want the highest quality, slowest setting.

For color, for most situations, the "do not manage" option
is what you want. Don't select PostScript color manglement.

And you certainly don't want any conversions of TrueType.
